Bhakoot Dosha: What It Is, What It Affects, and When It Cancels

Bhakoot is the 7-point koota that looks at long-term prosperity, family harmony, and whether the match feels stable after the wedding rush is over. In actual family conversations, this is the part people bring up when they ask whether the relationship will hold up under money pressure or house pressure.

There are three dosha patterns. A 2-12 relationship is usually linked with wealth and health strain. A 6-8 relationship gets the harshest reading in many traditions because it is tied to longevity concern. A 5-9 relationship is still dosha, but most pandits treat it as milder (sometimes much milder) than the other two.

The scoring is blunt. No partial credit. If the rashi relationship is clean, Bhakoot gives 7/7. If dosha is present, it gives 0/7. That is why a match that looked safe at first can slip below the usual 18-point comfort line once the Bhakoot rule is applied.

Nadi dosha is usually treated as more serious because it carries 8 points and is tied more directly to health and progeny concerns in traditional reading.

Bhakoot carries 7 points. It is still heavy. But the conversation is more about long-term harmony, money rhythm, family approval, and whether the couple can hold steady when pressure shows up.

When both Nadi and Bhakoot are present, caution goes up sharply. That does not end the discussion. It means both cancellation sets must be checked before anyone gives a final yes or no.
