The guna milan score is a 36-point Vedic compatibility rating across 8 factors. Below 18 is considered low. 18 to 24 is borderline acceptable. 24 to 32 is good. 33 and above is exceptional. The score does not capture Manglik dosha, which is checked separately.
What each score range means
Most traditional families will not proceed without further review. The score reflects significant misalignment across multiple kootas. This does not automatically mean the match is wrong — dosha cancellations, specific chart strengths, and practical compatibility can override a low score — but it requires a thorough expert review, not a quick calculator check.
What to check: Nadi dosha status is the first priority. It carries 8 points. If both partners share the same Nadi, that alone accounts for most or all of the deficit. If Nadi is clear, check Bhakoot (7 points). These two together explain the majority of low scores.
